Snorkeling Tips

Hug the rocky sides of the bay for the best visibility and marine life. Go slow, keep your fins off the reef, and always check ocean conditions before heading out. If the wind picks up, save the snorkeling for another morning.

Logistics

There’s a small public lot just off Lower Honoapi‘ilani Road with permanent restrooms and outdoor showers. Parking is paid and limited, and the beach itself is compact, so arrive early. A beach stand rents snorkel gear, paddleboards, chairs, and umbrellas, and sells drinks; quick grab‑and‑go food is limited, so pack snacks if you’re settling in.

Safety

There is no lifeguard. Know your limits, watch the flags and conditions, and avoid the water if surf or visibility looks questionable.

Best Time to Visit

Mornings are best for parking, calmer seas, and the clearest snorkeling. Late afternoon brings lovely light for photos and sunset lounging, but winds and chop are more common then.
