West Maui road closures and Route 30 restrictions
Avoid the closed West Maui road segments and expect additional daytime restrictions on Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) through Friday, Sept. 11; use alternate routes where available, do not drive around barricades or cross flooded roads, and allow extra time. - Emergency closures: Honoapiʻilani Highway is closed near Kapoli Street in Māʻalaea and Ehehene Street in Olowalu because of debris from Hurricane Lowell storm surge. Front Street is closed in both directions from Kapunakea Street north to Honoapiʻilani Highway. The County says conditions may change as crews assess and clear debris. - Planned Route 30 work: Waikapū, mile markers 3–3.01, has a roving shoulder closure in both directions Sept. 9–11, 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m., for storm-drain cleaning. - Māʻalaea, mile markers 6.3–6.5: northbound single-lane closure Sept. 8–11, 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m., for guardrail repair; one northbound lane remains open. - Lahaina, mile markers 19.5–20.3: right single-lane closure in both directions Sept. 8–11, 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m., for guardrail replacement; one lane remains open. - Lahaina, mile markers 20.5–20.8: northbound right-lane closure Sept. 8–11, 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m., for guardrail replacement; one lane remains open. - Lahaina, mile markers 20.9–21.9: roving single-lane closure in either direction Sept. 8–11, 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m., for guardrail replacement; one lane remains open. - Honokōhau, mile markers 35.3–36.1: northbound single-lane closure Sept. 8–11, 7 a.m.–3 p.m., for rockfall clearing, drilling, shotcrete installation, and mesh installation; traffic alternates in the open lane.
