This is the classic welcome sign at the foot of the Hulls Cove Visitor Center complex—Acadia’s busiest gateway. It’s where a lot of trips begin: grab the obligatory photo, then head up to the visitor center for passes, maps, advice, and the park store.

• Transit: The Island Explorer bus stops here, making it an easy launch point to avoid parking hassles deeper in the park.

• The 52-step staircase up to the visitor center (your “first hike” of the day).
• Large parking lots, shuttle stops, and paths that funnel you toward the info desks and park store.

Wildlife

This is a busy, developed corner of the park, so wildlife sightings are minimal. You might catch common birds or a bold squirrel in the quieter early hours.

• Early morning or late afternoon: softer light for photos and fewer people around the sign.
• Peak season (May–Oct): expect mid-morning to early afternoon crowds and parking competition.
• Off-season: the visitor center is seasonal, so confirm operations if you’re banking on services.
