Built in 1933–35 at the request of John D. Rockefeller, Jr. and designed by Grosvenor Atterbury, the French Norman/Tudor‑style hall blends steel framing with local stone and wood. After decades of Navy use through WWII and the Cold War, the building was restored and reopened to the public with modern upgrades while keeping its historic character. It’s recognized for its preservation and is listed on the National Register.
