Highview is a one-room, open-plan log cabin on the Nipissing River, rented as a roofed overnight stop for Algonquin canoe trips. It is canoe access only; there is no road access or public walk-in. Official approaches paddle from Tim River, Kawawaymog Lake, Kioshkokwi Lake at Kiosk, or Cedar Lake at Brent. Reserve the cabin before planning around it, and check whether your route also needs backcountry campsite permits. The approach via Birchcliffe Creek can be difficult in July and August when water is low. Choose it if a historic roofed night is part of your interior canoe trip, not for a casual park stop.

The first cabin was built in 1922 as a fire-ranger patrol headquarters on the site of an earlier J.R. Booth lumber camp; two rangers lived there for six years. Lightning destroyed it and one of the old Booth offices in July 1928. Rangers built the present cabin in ten days, spending $37.50 after salvaging lumber, framing material and some roofing from the camp buildings.
