Which Beach Is Which
There are actually two day‑use options on this lake: the main campground beach (km 31.8) and a separate Lake of Two Rivers Picnic Ground and Beach (km 33.8). The campground beach is the one steps from sites and the store; East Beach and the day‑use areas down the road are handy backups when this one feels busy.
What You’ll Find

Canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards are everywhere here. Boat motors are allowed on Lake of Two Rivers (with restrictions), so expect the occasional wake or engine passing by. If you need a formal launch, head to East Beach; otherwise it’s an easy carry from the beach.
Crowds, Parking, and Cell Service
This is one of Algonquin’s busiest beaches—expect prime‑time crowds and a bit of parking chaos on warm weekends. Walking from your campsite is usually faster than circling for a spot. Cell reception is typically better near the beach than deeper in the campground loops.
Pets
Use the designated dog beach by the parking area. Officially it’s on‑leash; in practice you’ll sometimes see off‑leash dogs, so keep that in mind if you have a reactive pup.
Night Sky and Photography
Skies can be nicely dark for stargazing and Milky Way shots. Highway 60 headlights can wash a frame, so point your camera away from the road or move a little along the shore to shield the glare.

Next door: Two Rivers Store and the Café & Grill for groceries, snacks, and hot food; bike rentals are available at the store. East Beach Picnic Ground (and its covered pavilion) is a short drive if you want extra space or shelter. The main trailer sanitation station is about 4 km east and gets long lineups on weekends.
Season & Reservations
For 2025, the campground (and this beach scene) runs May 9–October 26. Campsites book out five months to the day at 7:00 a.m. Eastern and go fast for summer weekends. Day‑use vehicle permits can be reserved in advance for guaranteed access to specific day‑use areas.
Best Time to Visit
- Early morning: calm water, soft light, and easier parking; sunrise is especially good from the beach.
- Midday: warmest water but the busiest crowds.
- Late afternoon to evening: crowds thin and the light gets pretty; stay after dinner for stargazing if skies are clear.
