Two Rivers Trail is a 2.3 km (1.43 mi) loop from Highway 60 at km 31.0 through forest to an open Canadian Shield lookout above the pines. Give it about an hour. It’s a good choice for a compact walk with several cliff views, not for putting in big distance. Figures vary between 2.1 and 2.3 km; this description uses the full 2.3 km lap from the parking area. Difficulty labels also differ, so expect a moderate outing with a rougher return than the short mileage suggests.

Hiking Two Rivers Trail
The climb and the viewThe first kilometre is mostly easy, clear walking through forest.
The first kilometre is mostly easy, clear walking through forest. After that the trail starts climbing and gets rockier before opening onto broad bedrock around 1.4 km. Several lookout openings follow over the next few hundred metres, rather than one single summit. Taller trees screen parts of the forest view, so walk to the next opening before deciding you’ve seen it all. The trail’s interpretive theme is how Algonquin’s natural forest changes. For a photo, keep some of the pale rock in the foreground and frame the pine forest through the branches.

Past the viewpoints, the route turns downhill just beyond 2 km. This return section is rockier and rootier than the approach, with a few short footbridges before you reach the lot. It’s a short trail, but don’t hurry over the rock when it’s damp; it can be slippery.
