HI Hilda Creek is a six-bed, unstaffed wilderness hostel on Highway 93 North, beneath Parker Ridge in the Icefields Parkway corridor. It is an overnight base for hikers and ski tourers, not a walk-up attraction. It is set up as a private whole-hostel stay, with entry by key code arranged in advance; choose it for the remote setting, not hotel-style convenience.

Come preparedThere is a kitchen and lounge, but no running water, electricity, Wi-Fi or cell service.

There is a kitchen and lounge, but no running water, electricity, Wi-Fi or cell service. Bring your own water and firewood for the outdoor fire pit, and plan this as a self-catering stay. Free parking is available, but the route from the lot to the hostel is not clearly described; check before arriving with bulky gear. The toilet and shower setup also is not clear, so ask before booking.

The hostel is a base for summer hiking and glacier views beneath Parker Ridge, or ski touring in winter. Parker Ridge is avalanche terrain; anyone heading into it needs a transceiver, probe and shovel. Winter tires are mandatory on the Icefields Parkway from November 1 to April 1.
