Overview

This is the easy button for big-mountain scenery. The Lake Louise Summer Gondola whisks you from the base area near the Lodge of the Ten Peaks up to roughly 2,101 m (from about 1,646 m), where a wooden viewing platform serves up a sweeping panorama of Lake Louise, the Victoria Glacier, and the surrounding Rockies.

Wildlife

This is one of the park’s most reliable places to see wild grizzlies from a safe distance in summer. You may also spot black bears, elk, and deer. Remember: it’s wildlife, not a zoo—no guarantees.

How the Ride Works

You can choose an open chair or an enclosed gondola cabin. The open chair feels more immersive on calm, clear days; the cabin is better in wind, rain, or with small kids. Temperatures are cooler up top, and weather can change fast—bring layers.

On-Mountain Extras

Your ticket includes the Wildlife Interpretive Centre at the top, packed with exhibits that make sense of the animals and ecosystems you’re looking at. When it’s time to refuel, Whitehorn Bistro at the top and several base-area eateries keep things easy.

Parking at the lakes is infamously limited. The gondola offers similar epic scenery without the lakeside gridlock, plus the real potential for memorable wildlife viewing.
