Spooners Lookout

Overview

Spooners Lookout is a small, no-fuss viewpoint a few minutes from the Echo Point Visitor Centre in Katoomba. Reached via the Three Sisters Walk, it’s a smooth, concreted, step‑free path (with some steeper gradients) that peels off on a short, signed side trip. The payoff is a quieter, slightly lower perspective on the Blue Mountains’ headliner scenery.

What You’ll See

Expect sweeping views of the Three Sisters and out across the eucalypt-clad Jamison Valley, with the sandstone escarpments filling your frame. There’s a seating platform and viewing deck that makes it easy to linger and line up photos without jostling.

Getting There

Start at the Echo Point Visitor Centre and follow the Three Sisters Walk. Look for the signposted side track to Spooners Lookout; it’s only about 200 meters and takes roughly five minutes from the visitor area.

Best Time to Visit

Sunrise and sunset bring the most dramatic light and typically fewer people than the middle of the day. The lookout is open 24 hours, so early starts are fair game. It can be windy and feel colder by afternoon—pack a layer.

Wildlife

Keep an eye out along the path and at the platform for birdlife. Visitors sometimes spot superb lyrebirds and crimson rosellas in the surrounding bush.

On-Site and Nearby Amenities

There are no toilets, water, or food at the lookout itself. All services—parking, restrooms, and shops—are at the Echo Point Visitor Centre a short walk away.

Is It Worth It?

If you’re already at Echo Point, this is a no-brainer add-on: minimal effort for a calmer vibe and a subtly different angle on the Three Sisters. It won’t redefine the view, but it often improves the experience.
