Overview
Glen Feshie is a broad, quietly spectacular glen running north–south on the park’s western side, famed for ancient Caledonian pinewoods, the dynamic, braided River Feshie, and sweeping mountain-and-moor views. Much of it sits within the 45,000‑acre Glenfeshie Estate, a standard-bearer for long‑term rewilding and woodland regeneration.

Wildlife
Keep an eye out for golden eagles soaring above the glen. Red squirrels are at home in the pines, and the wider area supports pine marten and red deer, with potential for elusive wildcat. Birdlife can be excellent, including capercaillie, osprey, buzzard and hen harrier; very rarely, even snowy owl has been recorded.
Getting There & Amenities
Access is via the road up the east side of the glen (signed for Achlean/Auchlean). Use the designated car park before the hamlet; parking is not permitted in Achlean. There are no public facilities in the glen—no toilets, food, or stores—so arrive prepared and self‑sufficient. Mobile signal can be unreliable.
On the Trail
Expect a mix of estate tracks and rougher paths. After rain, underfoot can be wet and uneven, and the river’s braided channels mean crossings may be challenging or impassable in spate. Carry a map and compass and respect restoration areas and young trees.
Best Time to Visit
This is a year‑round glen with a consistently wild, tranquil feel and generally fewer crowds than the park’s busier hotspots. Aim for settled weather—clear, dry days maximize views and make river crossings less problematic. There are no opening hours, but earlier or later in the day enhances the sense of solitude.
