The Stag Ballroom at Mar Lodge Estate is one of the park’s most distinctive historic interiors—a soaring timber hall with more than 2,400 red deer antlers covering the walls and roof trusses. History

Originally erected in the late 19th century (set up in 1883 and re‑erected in its current position in 1898), the ballroom hosted ghillies’ balls and grand gatherings tied to estate life. Over time it has worn many hats—cinema, ski‑school space, even a sports hall—yet the antler‑laden interior remains its signature. The venue’s social history hints at the era’s master‑and‑servant divide and its royal connections.
