Fruita trail access
This is the Fruita-side trailhead for Cohab Canyon, near the campground and historic barn. It is an access point in the valley, not a rim overlook. The trail climbs steeply from Fruita before entering the sandstone canyon.
Reaching the overlooks
Signed spur trails farther along the route lead to North and South Fruita overlooks. Those are separate destinations above the valley; their views are not available at this trailhead. Cohab Canyon also connects with the Frying Pan Trail and the Highway 24 side of the park. Choose a route that fits your time and ability, and use the individual trail information for distances and directions.
Before you walk
Carry drinking water and wear footwear suitable for steep, rocky ground. Use the facilities in Fruita before setting out. Stay on established paths and give wildlife space.
