Beckie's Café is a rustic, sit-down restaurant in Union Creek on Highway 62, along the west approach to Crater Lake. It sits outside the park boundary but works as a meal stop on the drive in or out. The café serves breakfast, lunch and dinner; its pies are the reason to leave room for a break.

The menu follows a diner pattern: eggs, omelets and pancakes at breakfast, then soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches and entrées such as steak and pork chops. Pies are baked fresh on-site; listed flavors include very berry, blackberry and boysenberry, alongside apple, cherry, pecan and others. The crust uses beef and pork tallow, a useful dietary detail. Pie is a local specialty, though selection and service can vary by visit.

Why it is called Beckie'sEd Beckelhymer built the café in 1926; local residents called him Beckie.

Ed Beckelhymer built the café in 1926; local residents called him Beckie. His wife Cecil carried on after his death, also becoming known as Beckie, and ran the café into the late 1960s. Huckleberry pies became part of its reputation under her watch.

From wagon road to caféThe café and Union Creek Resort are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The café and Union Creek Resort are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A fire destroyed the café and lodge in 1937, and both were rebuilt in 1938. Before the restaurant, Union Creek was a shaded camping stop on the wagon road between the Rogue River Valley and Crater Lake, offering water and shade to travelers. In 1865, a wagon road was cleared to link Fort Klamath and Jacksonville through Wood River, Union Creek and the Rogue River.
