Overview
Century Cycles is the park’s go-to bike hub in the village of Peninsula, sitting right beside the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. It’s a full-service shop—rentals, repairs, sales, and all the small bits you forgot to pack—so you can sort your gear and start rolling within minutes.
Why Start Here
- Direct trail access means zero shuttling or logistics headaches.
- Rentals cover standard bikes and electric-assist options, handy for mixed-ability groups or longer rides.
- Staff are known for local know-how—route tips, what’s open nearby, and quick fixes to get you on your way.
What You’ll Experience
From the door, you’re on one of Ohio’s most popular corridors: a mostly level path tracing the historic canal and the Cuyahoga River. Expect classic valley scenery—woodlands, wetlands, old canal features—and frequent wildlife sightings like deer and a variety of birds along the way.
Night Rides
Century Cycles hosts informal Night Rides on the Towpath—fun, social, and a totally different vibe after dark. They’re open to a wide range of skill levels, but do come prepared (see tips below).
Nearby
Peninsula’s historic core is steps away, with restaurants and post-ride treats an easy walk from the shop. Public parking near the village and trail corridor makes this a convenient launch point for day trips.
Best Time to Visit
If you’re renting on a sunny weekend or attending a Night Ride, plan a cushion of extra time—this area is popular and parking can tighten up around events. Morning and late afternoon are the most pleasant windows for summer temperatures and softer light on the trail.
Good to Know
- Services include rentals (standard and e-bikes), repairs, and retail for clothing, parts, and accessories.
- For Night Rides, you’ll need a helmet and a headlight. Arriving early helps with parking and prep.
- There’s no food service in the shop itself, but plenty of options in the village.
