Guide
Horseshoe Pond is a small farm pond with a fishing pier and picnic shelter. It’s a calm stop for lunch or a little fishing; a short paved path leads to the accessible pier. The boardwalk to the shelter has an incline that may challenge some manual-wheelchair users. Bring drinking water—none is provided at the picnic area.
The pond sits on former Bishop Farm land. Dairy and beef cattle came before Christmas trees; the family was growing them by 1955. Fields and planted rows now meet returning woods, a small, visible piece of the valley’s shift from farm to forest.
The unpaved Tree Farm Trail is a 2.8-mile loop that begins and ends near the pond. It crosses old fields, planted evergreen rows, and woods, and can get muddy in spring or after heavy rain. Treat it as a separate outing from the short pond approach.
