Three Ways Lookout delivers classic Dales Gorge scenery without much effort. It’s a quick stroll from the Dales Day Use Area and a smart place to orient yourself before tackling the gorge floor or the rim.

Location & Access

You’ll find the lookout in the Dales Gorge precinct on the park’s eastern side. From the Dales Day Use Area, it’s a short walk to the viewpoint. Main roads to this area are sealed and suitable for 2WD.

Facilities Nearby

There are no facilities at the lookout itself. At the Dales Day Use Area you’ll find toilets, shaded picnic tables, barbecues and shelter. There’s no potable water here, so bring your own. Additional information and limited supplies are available at the Karijini Visitor Centre about 12 km away.

Circular Pool Lookout: flat 150 m return, Class 2, about 15 minutes.
Fortescue Falls: 800 m return, Class 3, about 1 hour; the park’s only permanent waterfall.
Fern Pool: 600 m return detour from Fortescue Falls, Class 4, about 30 minutes.
Gorge Rim Walk: 2 km return, around 1.5 hours, with wide views from above the gorge.

Cooler months are best—April to September is the sweet spot. Expect heat to build quickly by late morning, so aim for early starts. The visitor centre typically closes from early December through February, and summer brings storm risk.

Carry plenty of water, especially if you’re continuing to the falls and pools. Linked trails can be steep in places, and it’s recommended not to enter gorges close to sunset. The descent to Circular Pool has been closed while the lookout remains open; check current park alerts before you go.
