You roll over a low-water bridge on the Crocodile River, often with hippos and crocs in view, and you’re minutes from lion, cheetah, and rhino territory. It’s popular, for good reason—expect more vehicles than up north, but also more action per mile.

The roads radiating from this gate are famous. The H4-2 toward Lower Sabie is a bona fide big-cat corridor, and the broader “Southern Circle” is known for multiple lion prides. Basalt plains here grow nutrient-rich grasses that pull in grazers (zebra, wildebeest, buffalo), which in turn keep predators close. White rhino sightings are notably strong in this area.
