Dry months (roughly May–October) thin the vegetation and concentrate animals at water, making sightings easier and light beautifully soft at dawn and dusk. Green season (late summer into autumn) is lush and photogenic, with babies about—but you’ll often “work” a bit more through thicker bush. Regardless of season, sunrise and late-afternoon drives deliver the best light, animal activity, and photos. Stay 3–4 nights to let luck and tracking even out.
