Overview

This is a true roadside pullout on US-93 with big, open views down into Black Canyon and the distant thread of the Colorado River. It’s a quick, 24/7 stop made for stretching your legs, snapping a few photos, and soaking in the Mojave’s stark textures without committing to a long detour.

What You’ll See

From the curb you’re staring at the chiseled walls of Black Canyon—volcanic rock carved by the Colorado River—plus layers of desert ridgelines fading to the horizon. If luck’s on your side, keep an eye out for soaring raptors or even desert bighorn moving across the cliffs.

Logistics

Amenities are minimal by design: parking and a scenic viewpoint, nothing more. Bring your own water and sun protection; there’s essentially no shade. Need services? Drop down Willow Beach Road to the marina/campground area for restrooms and supplies; the marina store typically runs 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with rentals 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. The Black Canyon Grill is closed for the season and scheduled to reopen March 1, 2026. Treat reentry to US-93 with care—traffic is fast.

Best Time to Visit

Golden hours are the move. Sunrise and late afternoon add warm light to the canyon walls and cut the harsh midday glare. Midday tends to be busiest; mornings and late-day see lighter turnover. Most people linger about 10 minutes, which keeps things moving.

Quick Take

It’s a simple stop, but the viewpoint is generous and the pullout convenient. If you’re already driving the corridor or heading to the marina, it’s an easy add that punches above its weight for scenery.

Pros

  • Wide, panoramic views of Black Canyon and the Colorado River
  • Easy photo stop directly off US-93 with parking

  • Be cautious reentering US-93; traffic moves quickly past the pullout.
