This is the classic lakeside angle on Veliki Prstavac, the park’s second‑highest waterfall, seen across serene Gradinsko Lake. From here you also pick up Mali Prštavac and Galovački Buk in one sweep—an easy, high‑reward view without a big climb.

Where to Stand (and How to Get There)

• Enter at Entrance 2 right at opening. Follow signs to ferry stop P1 and take the short boat to P2.
• From P2, walk the lakeside path around Gradinsko Lake; Veliki Prstavac comes into view across the water as you approach. Continue to the boardwalk at the base if you want a closer, mistier perspective.
• Official circuits that include this area: Program E (Upper Lakes), Program H (full circuit), and long routes K1/K2.

What You’ll See

• A 28 m/92 ft drop where water spills from Lake Galovac toward Gradinsko, with neighboring cascades creating a layered amphitheater of falls.
• Glass‑clear water with silvery fish cruising the shallows; Upper Lakes’ soft‑edged, indented shores frame the scene.

Photo Tips

• Go early. Morning light is kinder and crowds are thinner; local shooters favor early hours here.
• Skip midday if you can—the sun sits high and produces glare on the falls.
• Use the loop of boardwalks for multiple angles without much backtracking.

Nature & Geology (Quick Primer)

Plitvice’s cascades are alive—tufa/travertine barriers constantly grow as calcium‑rich karst water coats mosses and plants, creating natural dams that the water continually overtops. The Upper Lakes (this area) sit mostly on dolomite, which helps shape their gentler, more indented shorelines.

Wildlife Notes

Birdlife is rich (the park lists 168 species), and forest raptors/owls patrol these woods. Venomous snakes occur here, including nose‑horned viper and common viper—another reason to stay on marked paths.

Rules & Practicalities

• No swimming. No drones without a permit. Timed entry is enforced; buy in advance in peak season.
