Overview
Perched on a hill in the western side of Central Serengeti, Lahia Tented Lodge pairs big‑sky views with a relaxed‑luxe vibe. From the main deck and pool you look across open plains toward the Western Corridor, with easy reach to Seronera Valley, the Grumeti River area, Maasai Kopjes, and even day trips to Olduvai Gorge.
Rooms & Amenities
There are 25 tented suites raised on wooden platforms, each with an en‑suite bathroom plus an outdoor shower and a private terrace for sunrise coffee or sunset color. Families can book two interconnecting tents. The hub includes lounges and indoor/outdoor dining, and the infinity‑edge pool steals the show on hot afternoons. Practical touches: Wi‑Fi, 24‑hour solar power, laundry service, and free parking. Evenings gather around the campfire. For downtime, there’s a small gym (cardio + free weights) and optional massages. The lodge is eco‑minded and welcomes children (some activities have age limits).
Dining & Drinks
Full‑board meals are served in the dining room, out on the deck, or privately under the stars. Some rates include selected beverages. Vegetarian and other dietary needs are handled well when requested in advance.
Activities
- Classic game drives in Central Serengeti and the Western Corridor—think lions, leopards, and cheetahs in seasonally rich grasslands.
- Hot‑air balloon safaris (weather dependent) typically run 50–90 minutes and end with a bush breakfast.
- Cultural visits to nearby Maasai communities.
- Sundowners and stargazing by the campfire.
Wildlife & Seasonality
From roughly June to October, the broader area often hosts the Great Migration; in strong years, Grumeti action can peak around late June–July, though movements vary. Year‑round, the Seronera region is famous for big cats. Around camp, expect nighttime wildlife sounds—many guests report hearing lions.
Getting There
Fly to nearby airstrips—Grumeti (~25 km), Seronera (~70 km), or Naabi (~120 km). Overland from Arusha is a long haul of about 5–6 hours.
Best Time to Visit
- For migration focus, target June–October; for potential Grumeti drama, late June–July is often best but never guaranteed.
- Ballooning is a sunrise affair; book early. Sunsets from the deck and pool are superb for photography.
- Evenings on the hill can be breezy—bring a warm layer. Wi‑Fi and power can be patchy, so download maps/photos offline.
Good to Know
Outdoor showers are a signature perk here, but they can be less practical when it rains. Children are welcome; follow staff guidance for after‑dark movement around camp.
