Built into Kogakuria Kopje in the far north, Nomad Lamai Serengeti feels purpose‑built for watching the plains roll on forever. You’re close to the Mara River and the Lamai Wedge, so game drives start near the action rather than hours away. The camp is unfenced, so wildlife can wander through—part of the magic.

Rooms & Facilities

There are 12 open‑fronted rooms split between the Main Camp (8 rooms, including 2 family rooms) and Lamai Private (4 rooms for exclusive use). Expect private verandas, en‑suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water, flush toilets, and proper power showers. Communal spaces include bar and dining areas, a library/map room, and a natural rock swimming pool; Lamai Private mirrors this on a smaller, private scale. Wi‑Fi and 24‑hour power are provided, and meals lean fresh and locally sourced with bush breakfasts and sundowners available.

Wildlife & Activities

This is prime territory for the Great Migration when herds push through the north and tackle the Mara River. Twice‑daily guided game drives are the main event, with short bush walks offered for a different perspective. Even outside peak migration, resident predators (lion, leopard, cheetah) and big herds (elephant, buffalo, giraffe) keep things lively, and birding is excellent. Hot‑air ballooning from the Kogatende area can be arranged at extra cost.

What’s Not Perfect

Reaching sights up here comes with famously bumpy roads, and the camp’s kopje setting means plenty of steps and uneven walkways between rooms and the main areas.

Best Time to Visit

• Peak migration drama: late July through October.
• Shoulder months around that window can be quieter but still productive for predators and resident game.
• Note: the camp closes for the rains in the second half of March and all of April and May.

Getting There

The easiest access is via Kogatende airstrip, followed by a short road transfer—handy when you want to be in position quickly for river activity.
