Sayari Camp is a luxurious, permanent camp in the far north of the Serengeti, prized for its front‑row access to the Great Migration’s Mara River drama. Fifteen bright, roomy tented suites bring proper comfort—think freestanding tubs with savannah views, walk‑in showers (plus outdoor showers), and large wraparound verandas for armchair wildlife watching. Between game drives you’ve got a rim‑flow pool, a relaxing spa, Wi‑Fi, and a complimentary laundry service.
Location is the headline: this is one of the closest upmarket bases to the Mara River, so you’re well placed for crossings in July–September (often into October). Beyond the migration, the camp’s northern sector delivers excellent resident wildlife from November through March—big cats, elephants, and even the possibility of black rhino. There’s also thoughtful extra texture here: a small boutique, a plush library, an information center highlighting the Kuria tribe, and even a solar‑powered micro‑brewery.
Expect twice‑daily open‑vehicle game drives guided by sharp spotters. Short walking safaris are typically offered June 1–January 15 (weather and safety dependent; minimum age 12). Birders keep busy in the short‑rains months, and hot‑air ballooning can be arranged. Families are welcome from age 5, and groups can opt for one of two private Retreats with a dedicated chef, guide, and private vehicle.
Kogatende airstrip is about a 20‑minute drive away, and transfers to/from the airstrip are included on game‑package rates. The camp runs June–March and closes for the long rains in April and May.
Reports from this area consistently deliver lions, elephants, hippos, zebras, buffalo, giraffes, and wildebeest, with frequent leopard and cheetah and occasional black rhino. During river‑crossing season, thousands of wildebeest and zebra churn through the area.
Meals range from picnic breakfasts to multi‑course dinners, and dietary needs can be handled with advance notice. Power is a mix of solar and generator. Park/concession fees and some extras (like spa treatments and flights) are not included in standard rates.
