Tucked along Skyline Drive near milepost 36.7, Pinnacles Picnic Area is a shady, high-country spot that’s great for spreading out, lighting a grill, and letting the day slow down. It’s quieter than the big hubs and doubles as a convenient jumping-off point for the Appalachian Trail.

Wildlife & Stewardship
Deer and songbirds are common, and this is bear country. Keep food secured, clean up thoroughly, and use the bear-proof cans. In warmer months, expect some bugs—repellent helps.
