Atmosphere & Setting

You’re here as much for the setting as the sip. Sink into lounge chairs or grab a table and look out toward the meadow and surrounding cliffs; on warm days, outdoor seating makes the views the star. The hotel’s historic architecture and décor give the bar a refined, old-Yosemite feel without the formality.

Food & Drink

The bar focuses on a shorter menu—think appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and a few mains—with vegetarian/vegan options in the mix. Cocktails are the draw (ask about the locally loved El Capitini), and you can order food to go if you’d rather picnic outside. Compared to the main dining room—often buffet-style—many visitors find the bar a better-value, lower-key meal.

Logistics

You don’t need to be a hotel guest to visit. Casual attire is normal here. Renovation and seismic retrofit work is ongoing; it hasn’t closed the bar, but it can affect views, outside seating, and the general vibe at times. Hours can shift, and the bar often covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner—confirm day-of. Parking at the hotel is currently valet-only with a fee; the Valley shuttle or a walk from other parking areas is the simpler move.

Best Time to Visit

• Mid-afternoon or later in the evening is typically calmer than prime mealtimes.
• For softer light on the meadow and cliffs, aim for late afternoon into golden hour.
• Peak season brings heavier traffic and wait times; shoulder seasons or weekdays are easier.

Good to Know

• Day visitors are welcome to wander the public rooms, browse the gift/sweet shops, and settle in at the bar for a drink or meal.
• During peak periods when the park requires a day-use reservation, a dining reservation here does not count as park entry. Plan entry separately.
• Standard Yosemite food-storage and wildlife rules apply—don’t leave anything scented in your vehicle.
