Overview
Set in the mellow, family‑friendly Klausbachtal, this 55‑meter suspension bridge floats 11 meters above the Klausbach stream with knockout views toward the Mühlsturzhörner. The approach is an easy, scenic walk with benches and info boards along the way—kids love the gentle sway and the peek down to rushing water.
Getting There & The Walk
Most visitors start at the Klausbachhaus information point near the main parking, then follow the valley path to the bridge. In summer, the AlmErlebnisBus conveniently stops right at the bridge, which is a gift when little legs get tired. Fancy a snack? Detour about 10 minutes to Ragert Alm, then it’s roughly 20 minutes from there to the span. Many continue deeper into the valley toward Bindalm; others cross, soak up the views, and loop back.
Wildlife
Keep an eye to the sky: Klausbachtal is known for golden eagles. The interpretive boards along the route add context—binoculars or a telephoto lens make sightings much more rewarding.
Geology & Backstory
This landscape is always in motion. A massive rockfall in September 1999 sent roughly 250,000 m³ of rock from the Kleines Mühlsturzhorn into the valley, wiping out the former wooden bridge and forcing the stream to reroute. The suspension bridge you cross today was built in 2010 and now spans the reshaped gorge.
Bikes & Wayfinding
Cyclists are allowed on designated paths that run alongside hiking routes here. Note that waymarking in the valley isn’t perfectly consistent—pay attention at junctions.
Best Time to Visit
Mornings bring softer light and fewer people; afternoons are lovely for lingering at the water or a picnic. Summer adds the handy bus stop right at the bridge. Winter can be a serene valley walk, though conditions and occasional rockfall or storm damage can affect access—check current park updates before you go.

Services in the valley are sparse. Carry water and snacks, pack a layer and grippy shoes, and expect a short, steeper pinch just before the bridge.
