Despite the name, there’s no store here—just a compact cluster of hoodoos wearing dark “hats.” The Hat Shop sits below the rim along the Under‑the‑Rim Trail and feels far more backcountry than anything in the Bryce Amphitheater. If you like solitude and geology you can touch, this is a rewarding detour.
What You’ll See
You’ll hike down from Bryce Point to a slope studded with orange‑pink spires, each capped by a harder gray boulder—like fedoras on stilts. Along the way, expect shifting views across the Paria River country and distant plateaus, plus stretches of forest and colorful cliffs.

Remember: the easy part is the descent—save gas for the sustained climb back to the rim. This path sees far fewer people than the amphitheater loops.
