Hood River Event Site is a public waterfront access and event area on the Oregon shore of the Columbia River, east of the separate Hood River Waterfront Park. It is known for windsurfing, limited kiteboarding and events on the water. Come to watch the sails or launch a board; Waterfront Park is the better fit for a family stroll or a wider green-space break.

The riverfront changed as Gorge wind sports grew over several decades. Access improvements have been made alongside maritime uses, giving the shoreline a working-waterfront feel as well as a recreation role.

When wind brings boards onto the water, the sails and kites add color to the wide Columbia view. Windsurfing is the main draw here; kiteboarding is limited. Some riders stage gear on grass and carry it toward the water. The nearby Spit/Sandbar is a separately named shoreline stop, so keep it distinct when navigating or planning time along the waterfront.

For a photo, include the opposite wooded bank behind the rigs and leave enough river in the frame to show their distance from shore. The rock breakwater gives the waterline a strong angle, and the moving sails are the subject when activity is underway.

The site is by Portway Avenue east of downtown Hood River; Road access from Exit 63 leads to this stretch of the waterfront. A dedicated paid parking lot serves the Event Site. Wind is part of its draw and tradeoff: the exposed river edge can feel cold if you came simply to sit and linger. If your goal is water sports or watching them, this is the right part of the waterfront.
