Overview

This point marks the Harry Hampton Visitor Center access to the designated Firefly Trail. The seasonal display occurs along the trail through suitable forest habitat; it is not a single viewing spot inside the visitor center.

Visiting the Event

Congaree announces synchronous firefly event dates and entry arrangements each year. Check the park’s current firefly information before planning a visit. During the organized event, entry passes are limited and visitors must stay on the designated Firefly Trail.

Protecting the Display

Use only permitted red lights, pointed at the ground and kept to a minimum. The park does not permit phones for lighting or photography in the viewing area. Apply insect repellent before arriving, stay on the designated trail and do not catch or disturb fireflies.

Outside the Event

The trail is also an upland woodland walk. Seasonal viewing and event restrictions do not apply year-round; check current park notices for closures and access.
