From the picnic‑area car park, the path threads through a striking stand of Californian redwoods, then crosses the Gellibrand River on boardwalks and a bridge before following the river to the falls. You’ll reach a main viewing platform first; a second, closer viewpoint involves steps for that mist‑in‑your‑face angle. Along the way expect ferny river flats, shady forest, and plenty of flowing water ambience.

This is a year‑round walk that looks its best after rain when the flow surges and the forest smells amazing. Do expect damp surfaces (and the occasional leech) in wet weather. Early or late in the day gives softer light through the redwoods and fewer prams on the boardwalks.

Tips and comparisons

Stay behind barriers where signed and supervise kids near the river. If you’re chasing more short options on site, the Redwoods Boardwalk (some steps) and the Blue Spruce Walk both add easy extra leg‑stretching.
