Pros & cons

- Benches directly across from Tom Branch Falls make it easy to linger.
- Selective bike access on Deep Creek/Indian Creek lets you pair riding with hiking.

Overview
This is the park’s crowd-pleasing waterfall sampler: a 2.4‑mile loop that strings together Juney Whank Falls, Indian Creek Falls, and Tom Branch Falls in one tidy outing. Expect a wide, well‑maintained path with short, steeper spur trails, a few bridges and steps, and plenty of shade. Most hikers take 1–1.5 hours. There’s also a longer, quieter option (about 4.6–5 miles) if you link additional trail segments in the Deep Creek area.
Route Snapshot (2.4‑mile loop)
Start at the Deep Creek trailhead at the end of Deep Creek Road (past the campground). Tackle the short, steep spur to Juney Whank Falls first, crossing the footbridge over the cascade. Continue to connect with Deep Creek Trail, then turn right briefly to reach Indian Creek Trail; it’s about 200 feet up to Indian Creek Falls. Afterward, backtrack to Deep Creek Trail and head toward the trailhead—you’ll pass Tom Branch Falls along Deep Creek before finishing the loop.
The Waterfalls
- Juney Whank Falls: Often listed around 80–90 feet, reached via a short, steep climb; a footbridge puts you right over the water.
- Indian Creek Falls: About 25–45 feet; a brief spur delivers you to a cool, ferny nook that’s especially lush in spring and summer.
- Tom Branch Falls: Commonly cited around 80 feet; it spills gracefully into Deep Creek with benches opposite—an easy, linger‑worthy stop.
Conditions, Crowds, and Vibe
The main paths are broad gravel and easy to follow, but expect some moderate grades and stairs on the spurs. Summer is busy—this corridor is also a tubing hotspot, so you’ll share the scene (and sometimes the trail) with float traffic near the creek. Start early for parking and a calmer experience. Facilities (restrooms, picnic tables) sit near the trailhead.
Logistics and Rules
You’ll need a Park It Forward parking tag to leave a vehicle here. Pets are not allowed on these trails. Some Deep Creek/Indian Creek segments allow bicycles, but not all—follow posted signs if you’re mixing riding and hiking.
Best Time to Hike
March through November is prime. Spring and summer bring wildflowers around Indian Creek; summer has the most crowds (and tubers). Fall color often lingers here thanks to the lower elevation—early to mid‑November can be lovely. Regardless of season, mornings offer cooler temps and fewer people.
If You Want More Miles
For a quieter day with a bit more climb, extend to the longer Deep Creek Loop via the Loop Trail before returning on Deep Creek Trail. Ambitious hikers can also stitch together larger loops on adjacent Deep Creek area trails to leave the crowds behind.
