Temple Bar Campground

Temple Bar Campground is a developed, year-round campground on the Arizona side of Lake Mead, set among palms, oleanders, cottonwoods and native vegetation. Paved sites and roads accommodate tents and RVs. Its remote setting and dark night sky suit a quieter overnight. Reservations are required for every site, including same-day arrivals; the park entrance fee is separate from camping.

Each site allows one camping unit and up to eight people. Sites have picnic tables and a fire ring or grill. There are no RV hookups or showers, and no campground Wi-Fi. Restrooms have sinks and toilets; water spigots are spread around the campground, with a fill station and dump station near the entrance. Water may not be right beside your site.

There is no campground beach, so a night here does not put you on a swimmable shoreline. Nearby Temple Bar Marina has a boat launch and rentals for reaching coves by water. Its store carries snacks, drinks and charcoal, and there is a seasonal cafe. The marina's separate RV park has hookups and showers; those facilities do not belong to this campground. A nearby Temple View Trail looks out over the lake to the natural temple landform, whose colors shift through the day.

Summer is the hard season: daytime temperatures are usually over 100°F from June through August, while winter nights can fall below freezing. Spring or fall is a more comfortable time to camp. The surrounding desert supports birds, lizards and antelope squirrels, with coyotes seen occasionally. The low rainfall and remote location make the night sky one of the campground's best features.
