Pitches here are seasonal, so the site is not available year-round; check availability before committing to dates. Build the day around the morning gate opening and overnight locking, which affects late arrivals and any plans to head out after dark.

Grass pitches sit among flowing streams, ancient woodland and open heathland, with a deliberate wild-camping, back-to-basics feel. There are no toilets, no showers and no electricity, and that is by design. Visitors need to be completely self-sufficient and bring their own facilities, starting with a chemical toilet. Choose it for the setting and the simplicity, not for serviced comfort.

Pitches are grass only, which suits tents and units that can sit on turf and carry their own washing and toilet arrangements. Drinking-water taps are provided on site, along with a sanitary dump station for emptying. The gate opens in the morning and is locked overnight, so plan arrivals and evening trips out around it. Brockenhurst is nearby and reachable by a scenic walk or cycle for shops, cafes and pubs, and ponies and donkeys may be seen along the way.

What to bringA chemical toilet is required, plus the kit to manage and empty it at the dump station.
  • A chemical toilet is required, plus the kit to manage and empty it at the dump station.
  • Water containers for filling at the taps, and your own washing setup, since there are no showers.
  • Your own power and lighting, as there is no electric hook-up.
  • Pegs and gear suited to grass pitches, and a comfortable outdoor cooking setup.
  • Pets are welcome, so bring leads and a water bowl if a dog is coming.
Honest drawbacksEvery convenience is one you carry in.

Every convenience is one you carry in. There is no toilet block, no shower and no power, so emptying a chemical toilet, hauling water from the taps and arranging your own washing all become part of the routine. The locked overnight gate rules out spontaneous late-night comings and goings. Arrive equipped and self-reliant, and the streamside woodland and walking access to Brockenhurst are the payoff.
