Guide
This is a back-to-basics, adults-only campsite, set up for people who want quiet rather than facilities. With 95 grass pitches for tents, caravans, motorhomes and trailer tents spread through woodland and open clearings, there is space to find a corner and settle in. It is quiet and natural, and the staff are helpful.
Open grassy clearings give way to ancient beechwoods and thick stands of ferns. The forest starts at the edge of your pitch, which is the main reason people come back.
Ponies roam freely here and often graze through the campsite, and deer may pass through the clearings. Keep food packed away, give animals plenty of room, and never feed them. Pets are welcome, so keep dogs under control around grazing stock.
There are no toilets and no showers on site. You must bring your own chemical toilet. There are chemical-toilet disposal points and drinking-water taps for refills. Bring everything else you need, including water containers, torches and a plan for washing. It is a seasonal site and payment is card only. If you want proper washrooms or a family atmosphere, this is not the place to book.
