You pull off US‑101 and, within steps, you’re staring across a deep, glacier-carved lake framed by steep, forested mountains. It’s a perfect 10–15 minute pause on a busy day—snap a few photos, breathe the fresh air, and move on.

What makes it special

Lake Crescent is renowned for its clarity and deep sapphire color, thanks to its glacial origins and low nitrogen levels that limit algae growth. It’s also one of Washington’s deepest lakes (624 feet), and from this elevated perch you get sweeping sightlines down the 12-mile basin.
