Blond Giraffe is a dessert shop on Overseas Highway in Tavernier, centered on Florida Keys key lime pie. Stop for a slice or whole pie, or try the frozen Pie on a Stick; it makes an easy dessert break along the drive.
The signature Pie on a Stick is a frozen pie slice dipped in semisweet chocolate. The shop also offers pies with meringue, whipped cream or chocolate drizzle, plus cookies, candies and coffee. If you want something easy to carry back to the car, the stick is the distinctive pick.
The Serenity Garden and Love Lock Way add a place to sit outside with your order. If you have a few minutes, take the garden break instead of rushing straight back onto the highway.
In 1999, founders Tania Beguinati and Roberto Madeira entered her grandmother’s Brazilian family recipe in Key West’s first Key Lime Pie Contest and won first place. They had opened Blond Giraffe as a vegetarian restaurant; that win pushed the business toward pies. It’s a bit of Keys food history behind this Tavernier stop.
