Duval Street is Key West’s headline stroll: a little over a mile of bars, restaurants, shops, and live music where locals and visitors mix. It’s the place for people‑watching and a choose‑your‑own‑vibe kind of evening.

The street runs from the Gulf to the Atlantic. The north end, close to Mallory Square, leans nightlife; the farther south you go, the quieter it gets near the Butterfly & Nature Conservatory. Landmarks along or just off the route include Sloppy Joe’s and the San Carlos Institute, and US‑1’s Mile Marker 0 sits a block away on Whitehead Street.

What You’ll See and Do

Expect an easy on‑foot crawl of live‑music bars, classic watering holes, souvenir and boutique shopping, and plenty of dining options. Many visitors explore by foot, scooter, or golf cart; it’s designed for wandering more than for driving.

Parking around Duval is often tough, so plan to park once and wander, or rely on taxis and small rentals. Know the local rule on open containers: public drinking is prohibited, so finish drinks before stepping outside and avoid glass on the street.

If you want the scene, start with sunset at nearby Mallory Square and then head into the north‑end blocks for nightlife. Prefer a calmer walk? Begin toward the south end and amble north as the energy builds.
