Camp Borje

Overview

Camp Borje is a forested, mid‑size campground about 15–16 km from the park’s southern entrances, making it an easy base for exploring the lakes. The setting is classic Lika: tall pines, plenty of shade, and a relaxed vibe that feels a world away once you pull in.

Campsites & Facilities

You’ll find a mix of premium (electricity, water, and drainage), comfort (electricity and water), and standard powered pitches. Communal sanitary blocks are modern and kept clean, with hot‑water showers and all the basics. A few campers note the push‑button showers and occasionally wish for hotter water, and RV spots with full utilities can sit a little close to each other. Wi‑Fi is available across the grounds.

Food & Essentials

Restaurant Borje sits right next door, serving traditional Lika dishes with both self‑service and à la carte menus, plus a coffee bar. Typical hours run from morning through dinner, with the à la carte service operating midday to evening. There’s also a small shop/exchange nearby, and a large supermarket directly across the road for a full resupply.

Activities & Nearby

On site you’ve got a kids’ playground, table tennis, grass volleyball, five‑a‑side football, and even a quirky hanging bowling alley. From camp, it’s easy to access local hiking and cycling routes through the pines. Around the park, classic add‑ons include rowing on Lake Kozjak, horseback rides on forest tracks, kayaking the Gacka River, and cultural stops like the Nikola Tesla Memorial Center.

Getting Around

If you don’t feel like driving, a shuttle runs between the campground and the park—handy on busy days or if you want to leave the camper plugged in.

Best Time to Visit

The published 2025 operating season ran March 28–October 31; outside those dates (like late November), the campground is typically closed. Prices step up in peak summer (July–August) and ease off in the shoulder months. For a smoother park day, use the first shuttle of the morning, then roll back to camp for an early dinner on the restaurant terrace.

Good to Know

• Depth matters: pitches closer to the entrance can hear road noise; head further in for quieter nights.
• Dishwashing sinks aren’t guaranteed—bring a collapsible basin if you like a tidy camp kitchen.
• The campground spans roughly 6.5 hectares and can accommodate a few hundred guests, so even in busier weeks you can usually find a shaded spot.
