Mirador Glaciar Grey is a glacier-facing lookout on a hillside above Lago Grey, about ten minutes beyond Refugio Grey on the western W Trek. If you’re already walking to the refugio, keep going for a more direct view of the ice front. From Paine Grande, though, this is a long day hike, not a quick side trip; the glacier is still across the lake.

CONAF lists the Grey–Paine Grande trail as 11 km and about three and a half hours each way to Refugio Grey; the lookout is a short walk farther on. Allow roughly 22–24 km and six to seven and a half hours for the return walk, depending on the exact endpoint and route measurement. Day hikers commonly reach Paine Grande by catamaran from Pudeto, so check the current boat schedule and leave enough time for the return crossing. Rocky sections can be slippery when wet.

Grey Glacier spreads toward Lago Grey in three tongues, with ice cliffs more than 30 metres high. Floating icebergs gather below the glacier front, and exposed rock islands in the lake are nunataks left standing as the ice retreated. The viewpoint gives you the scale of the ice and lake together, though it remains a distant view. Continuing toward the suspension bridges brings you closer; boat or guided outings on the lake are another option.

For a phone photo, keep some of the iceberg-speckled water below the ice cliffs so the lake gives the glacier scale. A longer lens helps pull the glacier front closer.

CONAF lists this section as a guided route in winter and warns of snow and avalanche hazards from May through September. Check current park requirements before setting out, since seasonal access rules can change.
