Grey Glacier Suspension Bridges Trail is a 4 km (2.5 mi) out-and-back from Refugio Grey to the Puentes Los Guardas bridge group. Follow the marked mountain path north into the glacier valley, cross the hanging bridges, then return the same way. Allow three to four hours; this is a half-day add-on from the refuge, not a quick roadside stop.
The path continues north into the Grey–Paso section of the O circuit. A current overnight itinerary describes this as a return walk from Refugio Grey, but it doesn’t establish the general public’s day-walk access or the ranger-approved turnaround. Ask at the Grey ranger station where you may go before setting out, and don’t turn this short outing into a through-hike toward Paso John Gardner.
The route climbs from the refuge along an unpaved mountain path. One hiking account estimates about 40 minutes uphill to the first bridge. Farther north, the suspension crossings span deep ravines; the park map warns that two bridges on the Grey–Paso trail are more than 20 m high. If heights or swaying bridges make you uncomfortable, turn back at the permitted point.
From the bridge area, you look across Grey Lake toward Grey Glacier and down into ravines cut by streams and waterfalls from Cordón Olguín. Ice can break from the glacier into the lake, though there’s no way to predict when.
There’s no road parking at the refuge. One booked approach is the catamaran from Pudeto to Paine Grande, followed by an 11 km hike to Grey; arrange the refuge stay or another authorized access plan before building the bridge walk into your day. Meals are part of some overnight itineraries, but no food or water point was verified on the bridge spur. Park rules prohibit pets and walking after dark.
