Jumbie Bay

Overview

Jumbie Bay is the low-key, sandy pocket you sneak off to when the big-name beaches feel busy. It’s small, shaded, and typically quieter because parking is scarce. Expect clear water, white sand, and an intimate cove feel without the bustle.

Getting There & Parking

You’ll park roadside along North Shore Road and take a short path through the woods (a few hundred feet with some steps) to reach the beach. There are only a handful of spots, which is exactly why it stays mellow—arrive early, especially in peak season.

Amenities

None. No restrooms, no concessions, no rentals. Bring water, snacks, and snorkel gear. If you need facilities, plan to use them at larger beaches before or after your stop here.

Snorkeling & Conditions

Snorkeling ranges from decent to terrific depending on sea state. When it’s calm, work the rocky edges and out toward the point for better coral and fish life—angelfish, triggerfish, jackknife fish, grouper, and stingrays show up regularly, with the occasional nurse shark farther out. When winds pick up, expect chop and stronger currents; keep it conservative on rough days.

Beach Character

Mostly soft sand with some pebbly or rocky bits near the entrance. Shade from sea grapes and other trees makes it easy to linger without an umbrella.

Best Time to Visit

• Early morning for parking and the calmest water.
• Midweek and off-peak months feel especially peaceful.
• Calm, sunny mornings are best for snorkeling and photography.

Good to Know

• Seaweed (sargassum) can drift in at times, and ants can be present—bug spray helps.
• Jellyfish occasionally ride in with winds and swell; shuffle in slowly and stay alert.
• There’s no fee specific to this beach, and the park has no general entrance fee by road.
