Two miners' cottages packed with Upper Wharfedale's mining and daily life
Overview
Grassington grew as an industrial village as well as a farming one, shaped by mills and lead mining, and the collection makes that double history easy to follow in one place. Rooms are compact and densely packed, so it reads as a short cultural stop rather than a long visit. Volunteers on duty are known for being welcoming and well informed about the objects and the dale, and are usually happy to explain what you are looking at.

Guide
Facing the cobbled square in the middle of Grassington, this small museum fills a building that dates from around 1728 and began life as two cottages, probably built for miners. A room behind the right-hand cottage started as a single-room cottage in the mid-seventeenth century. The low rooms and two floors are now given over to the story of Upper Wharfedale, gathered largely from local sources.
