This is the Golden Bay side’s go-to info hub for planning Abel Tasman adventures and wider Golden Bay roaming. You’ll find practical help with accommodation, transport, and activity bookings, plus straight-up local intel that saves time and missteps.

What You’ll Find

• Trip planning and bookings: staff can sort transport, tours, and lodging, and point you toward the right operators.
• Self-serve info: brochures and maps are posted outside 24/7 for quick planning when the doors are shut.
• Facilities: public toilets, a bottle-filling tap (spring water), EV charging, and comprehensive rubbish/recycling options.
• Banking: a Kiwibank counter operates on-site weekdays with limited hours.

Current Status

Recent notes indicate it’s listed as temporarily closed, with information posted on the windows. One report mentioned a target reopening of September 25, 2025, and another confirmed it was still closed on October 31, 2025. Expect the window displays to be your fallback if staff aren’t available.

Good to Know

• Hours vary by season and have recently been listed as Mon–Fri, 10:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. (Kiwibank 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.).
• For hut and track details or bookings guidance, the Department of Conservation office in Tākaka (62 Commercial Street) is open Mon–Fri, 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
• There’s plenty of parking, and you can top up the EV while you plan.

Little Extras

A short stroll from the car park leads to a small lookout with surprisingly good views. You might even spot the occasional friendly lamb on nearby paths.
