Brushkana Creek Campground

Brushkana Creek Campground is a 22-site public campground on the west bank of Brushkana Creek at milepost 104.5. It's one of only two developed public campgrounds along the 135-mile Denali Highway, a useful place to break the gravel drive and spend a night by the water.

Three gravel loops hold six, ten and six sites. The creekside day-use area sits by the back loop, and trails lead from camp toward the gravel bars. Visitors disagree about how close the sites feel, so take a look before settling in if privacy matters.

Each loop has an accessible double-vault toilet. A hand pump for potable water is in the middle loop; every site has a fire ring with a grill attachment and a picnic table. Bear-proof food lockers and trash receptacles are also provided. The middle loop has a host and an information kiosk.

The creekside day-use area has a covered picnic shelter and grill on a concrete pad, with parking for two cars. The shelter entrance has steps. The gravel parking areas aren't designated accessible, and the campsites aren't designed for accessibility. There's no cell service, so download your route before setting out.

Brushkana Creek is known for grayling fishing, including dry-fly fishing. It runs over cobble and gravel through riffles and deeper pools, then narrows beneath steep banks and brush. Short trails lead toward the gravel bars, and interpretive panels around the loops and day-use area cover local plants and animals.

Plan for mosquitoes in midsummer; campers repeatedly report that they can be thick.
