Expect the road beyond Savage River to be gravel, which slows travel and adds to the remote feel. In some seasons, this point has also served as a turnaround when the road farther west is closed by landslides.

What you’ll find: abundant vault (pit) toilets, an unpaved pullout with parking, and a river‑overlook platform. What you won’t find: drinking water, food, or a store. Signage can be sparse—don’t expect a full exhibit plaza. Pack out your trash.
