Igloo Creek Campground is Denali’s most low‑key, wilderness‑oriented base camp. Tucked beside clear-running Igloo Creek at about Mile 35 of the Park Road, it sits between Cathedral and Igloo Mountains and keeps the footprint small: just seven tent-only sites.
If you want quiet, a creekside tent pad, and the freedom to wander straight from camp with minimal frills, this spot nails it. If you want drive‑up convenience, showers, power, or an on‑site tap, look elsewhere.

Expect primitive comforts. Each site is tent-only and generally tucked into the trees with some natural screening. Amenities are minimal but thoughtful: picnic tables, bear‑proof food lockers, and pit toilets. Fires are allowed in designated areas. There are no showers and no hookups of any kind.
There’s no potable water here. Plan to bring your own or treat/boil/filter water from Igloo Creek—the water runs clear enough that silt isn’t usually an issue. There’s no store or food service, so arrive fully provisioned for your stay.
You don’t need a formal trailhead to explore. From camp, gravel creek beds make natural routes toward higher, open country. It’s classic Denali “choose‑your‑own‑route” hiking—just be prepared for creek crossings and shifting terrain.
This is prime wildlife country. Moose and bears are possible visitors, and Dall sheep roam the surrounding slopes. Use the provided food lockers, keep a meticulously clean camp, and follow bear‑aware protocols at all times.
