Getting there
Access is an adventure. The Poteriteri Track links Lake Teal Hut to Lake Poteriteri Hut through lowland forest and over a low, forested ridge. Volunteers cleared the track in November 2020, improving passage. A common logistics chain is to boat across Lake Hauroko to Teal Bay Hut, then continue on foot via the connection that includes a junction with the Hump Ridge Track. However you plan it, navigation, fitness, and wet-feet tolerance are essential.
