Freycinet Marine Farm

Freycinet Marine Farm is a farm-gate seafood shop and casual restaurant at 1784 Coles Bay Road, just outside Freycinet National Park on the drive toward Coles Bay. If farm-grown oysters or mussels sound like a good lunch, it’s an easy stop: sit in the covered dining area or take seafood away. Think of it as a meal stop, not a separate park attraction.

The farm raises Pacific oysters and Tasmanian blue mussels itself, then sources other seafood from Tasmanian fishers. Oysters come in several preparations, with mussels, local fish and Tasmanian salmon also on the menu as available. Cooked meals may take longer than an oyster order, so leave a little time if you want a hot lunch.

Julia and Giles Fisher bought the farm in 2005 to showcase Tasmanian seafood. Its six growing areas cover just under 185 acres, from the Great Swanport River estuary to marine waters off the Freycinet Peninsula. The farm raises its own oysters and mussels; the counter brings in a wider mix of seafood from around Tasmania, with some species following fishing seasons.

There’s on-site parking, step-free access and an accessible public toilet. The shell-covered outdoor surface may be rough to roll over; if you use wheels, ask about the easiest route to the covered tables. The restaurant is on the approach road outside the park boundary, so it’s an easy meal stop on a Coles Bay outing.
