Tucked at the end of Anglesea, Point Roadknight Beach sits within the Lorne–Queenscliff Coastal Reserve and serves up wide ocean views with a naturally sheltered corner. It’s a reliable spot for a mellow beach day when conditions are calm, with a reputation for gentle sets that suit cruising on a board more than chasing heavy surf.
Surf, Swim & Paddle
Expect serene, rolling waves rather than thumping beach breaks. It’s regarded as better for intermediate surfers, but those soft sets shine for paddleboarding, especially at sunrise or sunset. Swimming is lovely on calm days, and summer brings lifeguard patrols for added peace of mind.
The Coastal Walk
There’s a popular coastal beach walk linking Anglesea Main Beach to Point Roadknight (about 4.7 km out-and-back, roughly 1–1.5 hours with ~61 m total gain). The return leg can feel a touch more uphill. Around Soapy Rock you’ll hit rocky sections—far easier and safer to negotiate near low tide.
Conditions & Safety
Tides matter here. If you plan to scramble the rocky bits toward Anglesea, time it for low tide. The beach is fully exposed to the sun with no natural shade, so bring a hat, sunscreen, and water. Save the rocky exploring for when the ocean is playing nice.
Facilities & Access
Parking is roadside and gets competitive on warm days and weekends—arrive early. Toilets at Point Roadknight were temporarily closed in early September 2025 for upgrades and are open again. Dog‑friendly has been reported here, which is handy for a quick coastal stroll.
